For a NATUREHIKE tent, "waterproof" means all external fabric has been coated with our exceptional polyurethane coatings, ensuring watertight seams straight out of the bag. The "mm" rating stands for millimeters, representing a standardized measure of waterproofing. For example, a 3000mm rating indicates the fabric can withstand a 3000mm (9.85') column of water for over a minute before any seepage occurs. This level of waterproofing can prevent rain from entering the tent even during hurricane-force storms.

We no longer sell parts separately. If any product parts purchased through the NATUREHIKE website are damaged, please email us with your order details and a picture or video proof of the damaged parts. We will assess the situation and, based on our warehouse inventory, aim to offer a satisfactory solution.

"D" stands for Denier, a unit of measurement for the fineness of fibers, filaments, and yarns. Lower numbers indicate lighter and finer fibers, while higher numbers signify heavier and coarser fibers.

"T" stands for Thread Count, which is the number of warp and fill threads in a square inch of fabric. Lower thread counts represent loosely woven fabrics, and higher thread counts indicate tightly woven fabrics. Together, these numbers help indicate the strength and feel of the fabric.

Condensation in a tent is caused by moisture build-up due to temperature differences between the inside and outside. The main sources of condensation are:

  • Weather Conditions: High humidity, low temperatures, and rain.
  • People: Breathing and skin evaporation produce 1-2 pints of moisture per night.
  • Wet Environment: Wet ground or gear stored inside the tent.

To reduce condensation, ensure proper ventilation. Cooler, drier air should flow in while warm, moist air escapes. Utilize mesh fabrics, peak vents, and open doors to increase airflow. Leave at least two vents open and guy out the rainfly for better ventilation.

Cleaning your tent is only necessary if it has an offensive odor or is heavily soiled. Follow these steps for effective cleaning:

For Light Cleaning: Use a garden hose to remove loose dirt.

For Heavier Cleaning:

  • Set up your tent.
  • Hand wash with warm water, a sponge, and mild, non-detergent soap.
  • Avoid dishwashing liquid, detergent, bleach, pre-soaking solutions, or spot removers.

Rinsing and Drying:

  • Rinse thoroughly.
  • Dry by pitching or line-drying.

Important: Do not dry clean, machine-wash, or machine-dry your tent as these methods can strip the waterproof coatings.

Preventing mildew is crucial for maintaining your tent. Follow these steps:

  1. Dry Your Tent Immediately: Never store a wet tent. Mildew can start forming in just 24 hours, especially in warm conditions.
  2. Thorough Drying: Ensure your tent is completely dry before storage. Even if it seems dry, hang it outside or loosely pile it indoors for a few days. Turn it inside out to ensure all parts are dry.
  3. Avoid Machine Drying: Never use a machine dryer as the heat can damage the fabric.

Mildew can cause permanent staining and damage waterproof coatings, and such damage is not covered by warranty.
